Meet Dr. Anisha Kumar

Born and raised in Westchester, New York, Dr. Anisha Kumar is an accomplished plastic surgeon specializing in the face and neck.  Dr. Kumar received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University and her medical degree from Stanford University.

She continued her rigorous education by completing her residency at Johns Hopkins in Otolaryngology, a specialty that is solely dedicated to learning complex anatomy of the face and neck.

At Johns Hopkins, she trained under premier surgeons and conducted extensive research on patient values in facial plastic surgery and hair transplant procedures. She graduated as chief resident with over a dozen of peer-reviewed publications, multiple book chapters, and numerous podium presentations at national academy meetings.

Recognizing her surgical talents and astute eye for facial aesthetics, she pursued further training as a fellow in facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at the prestigious Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. 

Dr. Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery, Division of Otolaryngology at Stony Brook University. Her academic focus centers on advancing artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in surgical care. Dr. Kumar's research interests include developing culturally sensitive AI frameworks for facial analysis, computer vision analysis of surgical video, and preoperative imaging analysis for surgical procedures. She is an active member of the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and serves on the Medical Informatics and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery committees of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.
